Description:

The Zurich Summer School in Corpus Linguistics and Pragmatics (ZuKoKo) invites applications from PhD students, postdocs, and MA students for one of 30 available spots!

Over five days, participants will explore the acquisition, processing, and analysis of linguistic data. The program includes a tailored introduction to Python for corpus research and hands-on training in data-driven linguistic analysis.

The summer school consists of four modules:
(1) Foundations: Introduction to corpus linguistics, corpus pragmatics, and essential programming skills in Python.
(2) Resources: Exploration of German-language corpora and tools for corpus preparation (e.g., LCP).
(3) Analyses: Choose between working with IDS resources (DeReKo/KorAP/COSMAS) or analyzing custom corpora in Python.
(4) Future of Corpus Pragmatics: Discuss the impact of large language models on linguistic research.

Thematic areas include lexicon, semantics, pragmatics, discourse and cultural analysis, with space for variationist and grammatical approaches.

The program also features a poster session, a keynote lecture, a raclette evening, and a literary-linguistic walk through Zurich.
