Position Overview
The Linguistics Program at Concordia University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the development of a collaborative linguistic database aimed at supporting research on understudied languages. The ideal candidate would be a linguist with strong technical expertise or a computer scientist with an interest in supporting linguistic fieldwork. Applicants should have some experience in software development and an interest in advancing language documentation, preservation, and revitalization.
The postdoc will work closely with a linguistic research team to implement updates and improvements to an existing collaborative database. This is primarily a software development role, but some knowledge of linguistics would help to ensure the system meets the needs of field linguists. Some experience with linguistic fieldwork would be an asset. There are no teaching expectations, but the postdoc will eventually collaborate with research assistants contributing to the project.
