Call for Papers:
This conference brings together researchers interested in the study of linguistic evidentiality. We invite submissions on various aspects of evidentiality, including:
1. Detailed analysis of evidential systems or markers in specific languages;
2. Typological studies or comparative analysis of evidentiality across languages;
3. Exploration of the interactions between evidentiality and its related categories such as epistemic modality, egophoricity, mirativity, tense, aspect, person, among others;
4. Investigations into the grammaticalization of evidentiality;
5. Examination of evidentiality in any theoretical framework.
We adhere to the narrow definition of evidentiality, i.e., grammatical encoding of information source, so please be advised that research solely concentrated on lexical expressions of information source will not be accepted. While the conference spotlights the study of evidentiality in East Asian Languages, submissions concerning languages from other regions are also welcome.
Submission of Abstracts:
Each talk will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. Please send your abstract to [email protected]. The abstract should not exceed 2 pages in length (A4 or letter-size) with 1-inch/2.5-cm margins, inclusive of examples and selected references. Please use Times New Roman font, size 12 pt, and maintain single spacing throughout. Submissions must include TWO versions of the abstract: one containing your name and affiliation (in both PDF and WORD formats) and another version without the information (in PDF format). All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously. Only accepted abstracts will be invited for presentation.
