Dear Arabic-speaking friends,
We are excited to invite bilingual speakers of English and Arabic to participate in a unique research study aimed at analyzing conversational strategies in dialectical Arabic in different cultural contexts. This study focuses on understanding how dialect speakers interact and ask questions in various situations, which is crucial for effective cross-cultural communication. This study is approved under UTA’s IRB Protocol # 2025-0190.
Study Details:
• Purpose: To explore how speakers of Arabic dialects interact in everyday social scenarios.
• Participation: You will be asked to take part in a 30-minute role-playing exercise where you engage in conversation strategies based on hypothetical social situations.
• Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
• Duration: Approximately 30 minutes

Eligibility Requirements:
• Female
• 18 years old or older
• Speaker of both English and a Levantine dialect of Arabic (e.g., Palestinian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian)
• Born to an Arab family in the U.S. or arrived in the U.S. by the age of 5
