Special Qualifications: Special Qualifications: Post-doctoral, PhD and master's students in Linguistics or other scientific areas. Researchers in general, particularly in the areas of cognitive science. Preference is given to PhD, Master and Post-doctoral students in Linguistics.

Description:

The Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies from the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University organizes Braga Summer School in Linguistics, within the scope of the Doctoral Program in Linguistics. The event will offer advanced training in several areas of linguistic studies, especially from the perspective of Cognitive and Functional Linguistics in their most recent developments and in an interdisciplinary dialogue with other cognitive sciences.
The Summer School will consist of four different seminar courses taught in English, in person.

Course 1: From structuralism to usage-based linguistics: Currents and undercurrents in modern linguistics – Dirk Geeraerts (University of Leuven, Belgium)
Course 2: Cognitive Linguistics ↔ Cultural Linguistics: individual cognition ↔ shared cognition – Enrique Bernárdez (Universidad Complutense de Madrid)
Course 3: Discourse and Cognition – Veronika Koller (Lancaster University)
Course 4: Language after Cognitivism: At the crossroads of Psychology, Linguistics, and Philosophy – Filippo Batisti (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice)
