I am delighted to share that the Indian Anthropological Society, Kolkata, in association with the School of Languages and Linguistics, Jadavpur University, is organizing a workshop on linguistic anthropology.
Dates: September 9 – 15, 2025
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM IST
Location: Online, Google Meet
What’s it about?
This workshop explores the fascinating interplay between language, culture, and society. It will examine how language shapes our identities, social relations, and everyday lives—while addressing issues like language loss, power, identity, and revival.
Highlights & Outcomes:
- Understanding links between language & culture
- Exploring language loss & revival efforts
- Learning how to study language in different social settings
- Gaining insights into why languages die out and what can be done
Speakers include leading scholars and researchers from India and abroad, such as:
