Description:
The Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel, invites applications for a tenure track position (rank open) in linguistics, including but not limited to phonology, generative syntax, and computational linguistics.
We are a research-intensive department with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Our faculty members specialize in semantics, syntax, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and computational linguistics and have an active collaboration with other departments, including Psychology, Computer Science, and Brain and Cognitive Sciences.
Faculty responsibilities include:
- Conducting research in the candidate’s area of specialization
- Applying for external research funding
- Teaching (in English) at the undergraduate and graduate level, as required by the department's curriculum.
- Supervising M.A. and Ph.D. students
- Taking on administrative duties
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by the time they fill the position.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent publication record for their career stage and to apply for competitive research grants. While pursuing their own research agenda, the candidate is expected to be able to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in other sub-disciplines within Linguistics and in other departments.
Classes in our department are conducted entirely in English; therefore, the successful candidate must be highly proficient in English.

- For the rank of Lecturer: 3-4 References, at least 2 "independent" and at least 2 from institutions abroad.
- For the rank of Senior Lecturer: 4-5 References, at least 2 "independent" and at least 2 from institutions abroad.
- For the rank of Professor: 5-6 References, at least 4 "independent" and at least 3 from institutions abroad.
