Description:
Overview of the Role:
Professor Aditi Lahiri has been awarded an ERC Synergy Grant for her project PAAL, in collaboration with the University of Agder, Kristiansand, Norway and Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The overall role of the post is to experimentally investigate phonological and morphological representation and cognisance in a variety of languages.
Responsibilities/duties:
To work alongside with the PI and the other postdoctoral fellows within the PI's linguistic framework on:
- Theoretical and experimental approaches to investigating phonological and morphophonological cognisance and representations in the mental lexicon;
- Writing of research papers for internationally refereed journals and presenting results at national and international conferences;
- Contributing to the intellectual life of the research group and the collaboration, including participating in online meetings as required, and travelling for national and international collaboration when required;
- Contribute to the writing of reports required for extant grants and contracts, including milestone reports, and final reports before the end of the contract;
- Involvement in key decisions on research directions, methodologies and research responsibilities;
- Instruction and day-to-day supervision of graduate students and others working on the project, as required; Assisting with other reasonable practical and administrative duties as required.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- The applicant should have a strong background in linguistics, particularly phonology and morphophonology, and must be willing to work in a linguistically-oriented environment;
- A doctoral degree in either linguistics or psychology (with a focus on language);
- Should be fluent in English, spoken and written;
- Should demonstrate an excellent background in psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics research;
- Ability to carry out acquisition and analysis of EEG data independently;
- Should have a very strong background in statistics;
- At least one recent publication in an internationally reputable journal;
- Experience in presenting research findings at international conferences;
- Be able to demonstrate both self-motivation and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with eye-tracking;
- Knowledge of German.
