Call for Papers:
We invite researchers, practitioners, and scholars to submit abstracts for the 3rd International Conference on Data & Digital Humanities (DDHUM 2025), centered on the theme Text and Multimodal Data Processing for Sustainable Development.
This hybrid event aims to explore the challenges and opportunities involved in working with diverse data sources in the Digital Humanities. DDHUM 2025 will focus on making humanities data more accessible and fostering collaborative, data-driven research that supports sustainable solutions for global challenges. For more information, please visit the conference's website: https://ceh.elach.uminho.pt/ddhum/
This year, the conference focuses on how textual and multimodal data processing can contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We therefore welcome research proposals that, from the perspectives of the Humanities—whether related to literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, arts, heritage, education, culture, or the social sciences — explicitly engage with one or more of the 17 SDGs, such as:
- No Poverty and Zero Hunger (SDGs 1 & 2)
- Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)
- Quality Education (SDG 4)
- Gender Equality (SDG 5)
- Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6)
- Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7)
- Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8)
- Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9)
- Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10)
- Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11)
- Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12)
- Climate Action (SDG 13)
- Life Below Water and Life on Land (SDGs 14 & 15)
- Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)
- Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)
The conference seeks to highlight and give visibility to research that demonstrates how Humanities scholarship, supported by digital methodologies and data analysis, can contribute to building more inclusive, sustainable, and just societies.
