Responsibilities: In this key position, the candidate will be responsible, together with the department management, for the strategic development and operational lead of the Department of Applied Linguistics. You will have overall responsibility for the four areas: teaching, continuing education, research, and services. The tasks will also include representation of the departement and networking, both internally and externally, the latter one on national and international level. As a member of the university management team, the candidate will contribute to the development of the entire ZHAW, represent its interests as well as take on management and representation tasks on behalf of the entire university.

Profil: We are looking for a candidate with an integrative personality who has several years of practical experience in a professional field relevant to applied linguistics, someone who has a successful track record in a demanding management position, ideally in an academic environment expert. Our preferred candidate has expertise in a requested field relevant to the Department of Applied Linguistics, has entrepreneurial mindset and is well acquainted with both the educational landscape and the professional fields.

For this demanding position, the knowledge of strategic and operational management as well as experience in the personnel and financial management of a large organisational unit is a must. You have a PhD degree and experience in teaching and research at university level. The candidate will have strong presentation skills and excellent communication abilities in German and English.
