The Applied Linguistics Association of Serbia organizes the The 8th International Congress of Applied Linguistics Today – Modern Approaches to Old and New Challenges. The conference will be held at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade on 23 to 25 May 2025 as an in-person conference. It is co-organized by the Faculty of Philology (University of Belgrade) and the Faculty of Philosophy (University of Novi Sad), and in cooperation with CIPL (Comité International Permanent des Linguistes).

THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS TODAY – MODERN APPROACHES TO OLD AND NEW CHALLENGES
to be held on 23–25 May 2025, at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, Serbia.
The general theme of the conference is focused on, but not limited to, the following topics:
- theoretical frameworks in applied linguistics
- empirical research in applied linguistics
- interdisciplinary research (applied ethnolinguistics, applied geolinguistics, applied anthropolinguistics, etc.)
- literacy in the 21st century
- contrastive analysis and applied linguistics
- cross-curricular teaching and learning
- applied linguistics and new technologies
- applied linguistics in contemporary teaching practice
Besides the topics related to the general theme, a workshop is planned to be organized under the working title Applied Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence. Also, there will be a special session dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Department of Modern Greek Studies at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade.
Abstracts of 250–300 words (excluding references) for the general theme should be sent in English, French, German, Russian, Italian, Spanish or Serbian (or one of the official languages of the former Yugoslavia), and, for the workshop, exclusively in English, through the link provided below. Abstracts for the session dedicated to the anniversary of the Department of Modern Greek Studies can be sent in Greek too. References should be cited according to APA Style, 7th edition.
Each author may submit up to two abstracts: either one single-authored and one co-authored, or two co-authored. Presentation slots will be 30 minutes (20-minute presentation, followed by 10-minute discussion).

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 1 February, 2025. Notification of acceptance will be given by 10 February, 2025.
