Call for Papers:
The Department of Linguistics, Osmania University, Hyderabad was established in 1962, with the institution of a Tagore centenary Chair in Linguistics funded by the Government of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the year 1977. After its completion, the Department was elevated to the status of a Centre of Advanced Study (CAS) in Linguistics in 1998. Eminent scholars like Prof. Bh. Krishnamurti, Prof. H. S. Ananthanarayana, Prof. C. Ramarao, Prof. B. Lakshmi Bai, etc immensely contributed to the field of linguistics. And recently Prof. B Ramakrishna Reddy, a renowned Linguist of The Department, was awarded Padma Shri for his contribution for preserving Tribal and southern languages like Kuvi, Kui, Manda, etc.
In the year 2024, The Department has been awarded a Major Research Project funded by ICSSR. The Department brings out the refereed journal Osmania Papers in Linguistics (OPiL) annually. As of now 49 volumes have been published and the 50th Volume is in progress. In addition, The Department has brought out proceedings of selected seminars, conferences and OPiL, Book of Abstracts.
Telugu Linguists’ Forum (TeLF), Hyderabad, formed to promote research on different areas of structure as well as functions of Telugu language, invites research papers on the role and functions of Telugu in different domains. The forum has been encouraging research on Telugu besides other Indian Languages from the comparative point of view. In addition, TeLF propagates significantly for implementation of information technology and tools with reference to Telugu language.
Hence, all scholars, who analyze Telugu language from linguistic point of view are welcome to take part in the activities of TeLF. The main focus of the conference is on classical language, Natural Language Processing (NLP) in addition to Machine Translation and the preparation of Electronic Dictionaries besides Teaching Telugu as First and/or Second language in other states of India with Special reference to our New Educational Policy (NEP).
Against this background, the Department of Linguistics, Osmania University, Hyderabad, proposes to organize the 13th International Conference of Telugu Linguists’ Forum on 25 & 26 March 2025 and invites papers from the following areas:

7. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Language Technologies in Telugu
8. Telugu orthography & writing systems
9. Comparative study of Telugu and other languages
10. Telugu Language Teaching : Scientific, Sociological, Cultural, Historical, Political, Geographical and Economical Approaches
11. Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics & Discourse Analysis (Telugu)
12. E-Learning MOOCS in Telugu
13. Telugu as Classical language
14. Teaching Telugu as second, third, foreign language in states other than Telugu
15. Psycho Neuro Linguistics research in Telugu
16. Telugu Language & Cultural Expressions, Idioms, Proverbs, Folklores
17. New Educational Policy (NEP) and Indian Languages
18. Recognition, Status and Implementation of Telugu language in different countries of the world
Scholars are requested to bind by these above suggested topics. Abstract should not exceed 500 words. Abstracts/full papers can be presented both in Telugu and English. The scientific committee of TeLF, we are planning to have academic collaboration and financial assistance from Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE), Telangana Adhikara Bhasha Sangham (Telangana Official Language Commission), Hyderabad and other agencies/bodies for organizing the 13th TeLF International Conference at Department of Linguistics, Osmania University, Hyderabad. The decision taken by the TeLF scientific committee to accept abstracts/full papers and publishing paper will be final.
