The Okinawa chapter of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (OkiJALT) invites proposals for Summer Symposium 2023. Summer Symposium welcomes presentations and attendance by any individuals interested in language learning and teaching, and especially those focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing landscape of language education.

The Okinawa chapter of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (OkiJALT) invites proposals for Summer Symposium 2023. OkiJALT welcomes proposals on any aspect of language learning and teaching, but especially those which address the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing landscape of language education.

Possible presentation topics include, but are not limited to:
*Innovative language learning and teaching methods and materials
*Advancements in language education
*Integration of language and culture in language learning
*Language education policy and planning
*Professional development for language teachers
*Assessment and evaluation in language learning and teaching

Proposals for presentations can be in the form of research presentations, teaching practice demonstrations, short workshops, or poster presentations. Research presentations and teaching practice demonstrations should be 20 minutes in length, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session. Short workshops should be 30 minutes in length.

Proposals will be considered on a rolling basis until the deadline.

Submission Guidelines:
*Abstracts should be no more than 150 words and written in English or Japanese.

*Proposals should be submitted by 23:59 JST, 19 June, 2023.
*All presenters should complete payment for registration (the fee for presenters is the same as the early registration fee) by 23:59 JST, 30 June, 2023.

Conference Fees (same for attendees and presenters):

JALT members (and JALT affiliate members):
**Early registration (by or on 30 June): 5,000 yen for full conference; or 3,000 yen for one day
**Normal registration (after 30 June): 10,000 yen for full conference; or 6,000 yen for one day

Non-JALT members:
**Early registration (by or on 30 June): 10,000 yen for full conference; or 6,000 for one day
**Normal registration (after 30 June): 20,000 yen for full conference; or 12,000 for one day

Conference registration fees for Summer Symposium are identical for both presenters and non-presenting attendees. Payment for presenters and for early registration for non-presenting attendees should be completed by the early registration deadline date (i.e., 23:59 JST, June 30, 2023).
