Description:

PTW is in need of remote freelance native Māori-speaking and/or NZ English-speaking formally trained linguists who are able to do phonemic transcription and other speech linguistic tasks.

Successful candidates will be part of a team processing large amounts of linguistic data and carrying out a number of tasks to improve the quality of our client’s text-to-speech synthesis for Māori and/or NZ English.

Responsibilities include linguistic research and phonemic transcription.

Linguistics Requirements:
University-level coursework in general linguistics, phonetics, phonology, and experience in phonemic transcription in your native language (Māori and/or en-NZ).

BA/BS in Linguistics required.
