Meeting Description:

The International Conference for Historical Lexicography and Lexicology (ICHLL) brings together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from around the world who specialise in the study of historical lexicography and lexicology. The conference aims to explore the evolution of language, the compilation of historical dictionaries and the analysis of lexical and semantic changes over time.

We are pleased to announce that the School of Humanities at the University of Westminster, London, UK will host the 14th International Conference on Historical Lexicography and Lexicology on 18-20 June 2024.

The following keynote speakers have confirmed their participation at the conference:

Dr John Gallagher, University of Leeds
Dr Greg Toner, Queens University Belfast and Prof Maíre Ni Mhanaigh, Cambridge University
Dr Danica Salazar, Executive Editor (World Englishes), Oxford Languages

Submissions are invited for presentations on the theme of “Dictionaries as tools for language learning” but presentations on any topic of historical lexicology and lexicography are welcomed as are proposals for thematic workshops. Presentations can include any current research, including works in progress, with all methodologies and perspectives encouraged.

Abstracts of no more than 500 words should be submitted electronically as an email attachment (.docx or .pdf preferred) to [email protected]). The accompanying email should include the presenter’s name, institutional affiliation as well as the title of the paper. Submission are due by January 15, 2024. Notification of acceptance will be prior to February 28, 2024.
