Call Deadline: 01-Sep-2024

Meeting Description:

Old-World Conference in Phonology (OCP) was founded in 2003 by the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics and the Meertens Institute. Since then, it has grown into an annual event that attracts both junior and senior international researchers in phonology and related fields. The research presented at OCP conferences covers both experimental and theoretical discussions in and surrounding phonology. Previous OCP gatherings have taken place in many cities, primarily in Europe, most recently in Leipzig (https://home.uni-leipzig.de/ocp21/index.html).

The 22nd OCP will be held from 5th-7th February 2025 at the University of Amsterdam. This will be an in-person only conference.

Our invited speakers are:
- Eva Zimmermann (Universität Leipzig)
- Nancy Kula (Universiteit Leiden)
- Patrick Honeybone (University of Edinburgh)

The Leiden University Centre for Linguistics will host a satellite workshop on Tuesday, 4 February 2025 on Vowel Harmony: https://www.universiteitleiden.nl/en/events/2025/02/vowel-harmony.

2nd Call for Papers:

Abstract submission (for the main conference):

We welcome submissions on any topic in phonology from any theoretical perspective and methodology. We invite abstracts for talks (20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion) and posters. OCP22 cannot guarantee a particular presentation format, but you may express preference for a talk or a poster during abstract submission.

Submissions from students and early career researchers are particularly welcomed. Each paper has to have a unique first author, i.e., you cannot be a first author of two abstracts. All abstracts will be subject to blind peer review.

Abstract guidelines:
- Size A4, max. 2 pages (including references, tables, and figures)
- 12 pt Times New Roman font,
- 2.5 cm margins (1 in.),
- the authors must not be identifiable from the abstract,
- abstracts must be submitted in pdf format.

Abstracts not following these guidelines will be rejected.

Submission is open now: https://www.fon.hum.uva.nl/ocp22/submit/
Final deadline for abstract submission: 1 September 2024 23:59 (UTC).
Notification of acceptance: 1 November 2024.
