Meeting Description:

The 33rd installment of Formal Approaches to Slavic Linguistics (FASL 33) will be held at Dalhousie University in partnership with Saint Mary's University (Halifax, Canada). This FASL edition will be integrated into a four-day event: "Slavic languages across grammars and models". In addition to general sessions and a poster session (traditionally open to any aspect of formal Slavic linguistics), this event is planned to include:
- Special sessions on Slavic heritage languages
- A roundtable on clitics: "Trends and synergies in the research on Slavic clitics"
- A tutorial on large language models: "Slavic linguistics in the age of AI"
The meeting will feature presentations based on peer-reviewed abstracts as well as invited presentations by established researchers, emerging scholars, and graduate students. The full list of invited presenters, complementing the confirmed plenary speakers, is subject to further funding approval.
Invited plenary speakers are (in alphabetical order): Wayles Browne (Cornell University), Daniel Currie Hall (Saint Mary's University), and Maria Polinsky (University of Maryland).

Abstracts are invited for talks or posters dealing with any aspect of formal analysis of Slavic languages, including papers in theoretical, experimental, and computational linguistics. We also solicit abstracts for presentations focusing on Slavic heritage languages. Note that abstracts are only considered for the general and the special sessions (including abstracts focusing on clitics). The roundtable and the tutorial will be open to all participants accepted to the conference. All talks will be 30 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author. Please submit your abstract as a PDF file, with any non-standard fonts embedded in it. Abstracts should be prepared in anonymous form and presented with 1-inch (2.5 cm) margins on all sides; they are limited to one page of text, with an additional page for data and references. Submissions not adhering to these guidelines will not be considered for presentation at the conference.
