In the forthcoming summer semester of 2025, the Class of Language at the Graduate School of Language & Literature, Munich is providing two PhD position (funded: 50%, TV-L E13, 3years), as well as additional non-funded positions in our PhD program.

Application deadline: December 1st, 2024.

Doctoral students in the Class of Language at LMU Munich benefit from excellent conditions, including a research-oriented and systematically structured interdisciplinary teaching program, as well as individual and intensive supervision by professors from various linguistic disciplines. Members of the Class of Language also profit from diverse opportunities for academic exchange between doctoral students, professors, and international guests, as well as from the provision of key qualifications and financial support (e.g. for research or conference trips). Doctoral students in the Class of Language also have excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation with doctoral peers from the Class of Language Education, the Class of Literature, or the Class of Culture and History, all of which are also embedded in the Graduate School Language & Literature Munich.

Applicants are expected to provide a convincing project outline, an above-average university degree (state examination, state board examination, Magister Artium, diploma, Master of Arts, Maîtrise, Laurea, etc.) in a linguistic discipline, teamwork skills, willingness to actively participate in the class, and adequate knowledge of at least two European scientific languages, including German.

Kindly specify in your application whether you are solely interested in the funded position (50%, TV-L E13) or if you are also open to non-funded PhD positions. The Class of Language is committed to assisting its members in securing alternative funding.
