Description:

The Department of Foreign Literatures and Linguistics, at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel, invites applications for a tenure track position (rank open) in generative linguistics, including, but not limited to, phonology, morphology, syntax, and computational linguistics, expected to start in October 2025.

We are a research-intensive department with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Current faculty specialize in semantics, syntax, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and computational linguistics and have an active collaboration with other departments, including Psychology, Computer Science, and Cognitive and Brain Sciences.

Faculty responsibilities include:
- Conducting research in the candidate’s area of specialization
- Applying for external research funding
- Teaching (in English) at the undergraduate and graduate level, as required by the department's curriculum. Classes take place entirely in English.
- Supervising M.A. and Ph.D. students
- Taking on administrative duties

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by the time they fill the position. The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent publication record for their career stage and to apply for competitive research grants. While pursuing their own research agenda, the candidate is expected to be able to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in other sub-disciplines within Linguistics and in other departments. Classes in our department are conducted entirely in English; therefore, the successful candidate must be highly proficient in English.
